In this song, he could pull off the high notes of his early 70s Ziggy and the low notes of his 80s self. He was truly blessed to have such talent. He was a masterpiece himself, if he could create this music even when he knew he could be gone at any time, but he kept going for his fans, superfans and even people who didn't know him at all. Daft Punk's production is very good even if a little less distinct than their previous outings, and The Weeknd's voice is great and brings a lot of energy to the track. Not the best of 2016, but still perfectly serviceable dance-pop. Seriously, check this song out, you will not regret it. It's not my favorite song on this list, or of the entire year, but it is one of my favorites, and deserves #1. The beat produced by Daft Punk is easily the best that Abel has sung over, the lyrics are among the best a hit song has had this year, Abel sings extremely well, and that bridge is among the greatest pop moments of the entire decade. Not discouraging Blackstar, which is a phenomenal track, but if any song deserves #1 on this list, it's this one. Best song of the year by far (although False Alarm is a very close second). He is bragging at the expense of the listener, saying that they made him be able to brag like this, regardless of whether or not you like the Weeknd. Yes, this is a huge bragging track, but the key point is in the chorus. The harder area is in the lyrical department, but he actually has a bigger point here. To knock the easy stuff out of the way, the production is awesome and the Weeknd is the most charismatic I have ever heard on this track. Look what you done! 10/10, amazing song, not roughly as beautiful as his trilogy mixtapes are, yet still worthy of a listen, exceptionally if you're a Weeknd fan like me. In general, Starboy is a big laugh in the face to everyone who tests him or tries to end him, because no matter if you're a hater or someone who adores him, you make him more famous. Props to Daft Punk, too, for an awesome production. Rhymes are on point, flow is on point, cleverness is on point, and that cocaine metaphor in the pre-chorus pulled it off more than CFMF wishes it did. BBTM had good lyrics and all, but it didn't offer nearly as much as this track does. I don't mean musically, because going from grunge R&B to pop to electronic is a huge switch-up, I mean his lyricism.
